5th Data Protection Day – 28 January 2011

On January 28th we celebrated the Data Protection Day for the fifth time. The Inspector General for Personal Data Protection organized the discussion panel devoted to the problem of retention of personal data. Additionally, children who were visiting our Bureau could attend the lecture entitled "Safety of children and young people in Internet" as well as participate in contests with prizes. During the Open Day, the Bureau of Inspector General gave free legal advice and consultation.

January 28th, Brussels – Conference “Data protection 30 years later: from European to international standards” organized by the European Commission and the Council of Europe. During the event the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection was the moderator of one of the two panels, marked the 30th anniversary of the Council of Europe Convention for the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data, known as “Convention 108”, which was opened for signature on 28 January 1981;

January 31st, Warsaw - Open Day in the Bureau of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection;

January 24th, Brussels - ENISA workshop on Data Breach Notifications during which the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection represented the point of view of the data protection authorities;

January 26th, Brussels - meeting of the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection with MEPs at the seat of European Parliament;

January 27th, Brussels - the Inspector General for Personal Data Protection meeting with Members of Parliament, representatives of the European Commission and other Polish and EU institutions representatives at the seat of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the European Union;
