Recommendation R(2002) 9 of the Committee of Ministers to member states on the protection of personal data collected and processed for insurance purposes

The recommendation taking into consideration the fact that that automated processing of personal data for insurance purposes is increasingly widespread, not only for the preparation, conclusion, implementation and termination of insurance, but also to facilitate rational and economic management of insurance and to fight against fraud recommends to guarantee confidential character of personal data and data security and to ensure that the use to which they are put respects fundamental human rights and freedoms, notably the right to privacy.
